There are 28 Michigan beaches closed or under contamination advisories heading into what is expected to be a cooler August weekend.
MLive meteorologist Mark Torregrossa is predicting a “true fall day” Saturday before the state returns to summer temperatures. Temperatures will range from 15 to 20 degrees, depending on where you are. Temperatures will start to warm up again Sunday.

- Saginaw Bay/Lake Huron, Singing Bridge Beach, Arenac County – contamination advisory since June 26 due to high levels of bacteria from stormwater runoff.
- Sugden Lake, Oakridge Subdivision, Oakland County – CLOSED since July 5 due to high bacteria levels from wildlife.
- Dumont Lake, Dumont Lake County Beach, Allegan County – contamination advisory since July 9 due to storm water runoff.
- Ross Lake, Beaverton City Park, Gladwin County – contamination advisory since July 16 due to high levels of bacteria from an unknown source.
- Houghton Lake, Lakeview Waterfront Park, Roscommon County – contamination advisory since July 18 due to elevated bacteria levels from an unknown source.
- Crescent Lake, Crescent Lake Park, Oakland County – CLOSED since July 23 due to high bacteria levels from wildlife.
- Lake Bellaire, Richardi Park, Antrim County – contamination advisory since July 25 due to “other” from an unknown source.
- Thornapple Lake, Charlton Park, Barry County – CLOSED since July 24 due to high levels of bacteria from an unknown source.
- St. Marys River, Four Mile Beach, Chippewa County – contamination advisory since July 24 due to high levels of bacteria from an unknown source.
- Stewart Lake, Groveland Oaks County Park’s Paradise Beach, Oakland County – CLOSED since July 31 due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
- Charnwood Lake, Charnwood, Oakland County – CLOSED since August 6 due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
- Lake Huron, Wagener County Park, Huron County – CLOSED since August 6 due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
- Lake Huron, Harbor Beach City Park, Huron County – CLOSED since August 6 due to high levels of bacteria from an unknown source.
- Lake Michigan, Union Pier/Townline Road, Berrien County – contamination advisory since August 5 due to high levels of bacteria from an unknown source.
